Proceeds from Saturday's Fun Chili Cook-Off at Jonathan's Cork, 6320 E. Tanque Verde Road, will help send local boys and girls to camp next summer. This annual fundraiser benefits the Arizona Daily Star's Sportsmen's Fund Send a Kid to Camp program.
More than a dozen chili-heads will compete Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. for prizes while professionals and the public sample and judge.
Your $10 donation allows you to sample chilis. You can then be a judge in "The People's Choice'' category by dropping a donation into the container representing your favorite chili.
Since 1947, the Star's Sportsmen's Fund has helped to send more than 32,000 children to camp.
The Send a Kid to Camp program raises money so economically disadvantaged kids can go to YMCA, Boy Scout and Girl Scout camps and to the Camp Courage burn camp.
At least 97 cents of every dollar raised goes to send boys and girls to camp.
Make out checks to Send a Kid to Camp and mail them to: Send a Kid to Camp, P.O. Box 16141, Tucson, AZ 85732-6141.
