PEORIA — A head-on crash that police believe was caused by a teenager who was text messaging on her cell phone killed the teen and the driver in the other car.
Ashley D. Miller, 18, of Glendale, died Tuesday of injuries she received when she was ejected from her Ford pickup, Peoria police spokesman Mike Tellef said.
The wreck also killed 40-year-old Stacey A. Stubbs of Chino Valley, who was driving a Chrysler PT Cruiser on Lake Pleasant Parkway in Peoria Monday afternoon when Miller's truck crossed into her lane.
Tellef said investigators believe Miller was text-messaging when the wreck happened. She was not wearing a seat belt.
"It's sad, because it was totally preventable," Tellef said.
