TPD seeks recruits for its citizens' academy

The Tucson Police Department will accept applications for its Citizens' Police Academy until Aug. 29.
The academy is designed to give the community a better understanding of Police Department operations. It begins Sept. 5 and classes will continue from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. for 14 consecutive Wednesdays, according to a TPD news release.
People can learn more about the department's service-dog, traffic, air-support and SWAT units and take tours of the crime lab, identification and police records and police communications.
