TPD seeks recruits for its citizens' academy

The Tucson Police Department will accept applications for its Citizens' Police Academy until Aug. 29.
The academy is designed to give the community a better understanding of Police Department operations. It begins Sept. 5 and classes will continue from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. for 14 consecutive Wednesdays, according to a TPD news release.
People can learn more about the department's service-dog, traffic, air-support and SWAT units and take tours of the crime lab, identification and police records and police communications.
The academy is limited to 55 people per session. For more information or to obtain an application, visit tpdinternet .tucsonaz.gov/, then click the "services" tab and select "Citizens' Police Academy" in the general-information category.
