Sun Tran plans to expand weeknight service on six routes and weekend service on eight routes starting Aug. 12.
The move is a continuation of the service improvements started last fall using funds from the Regional Transportation Authority, a voter-approved 20-year transportation plan.
The changes to weekend service vary by route, but one of the big changes is service to Ina Road on Route 16 on Sundays, said Michelle Joseph, Sun Tran spokeswoman. Route 16 already serves Ina Road on other days, but Sunday service will allow the route to continue to serve those who need it throughout the week, she said.
A few Downtown routes will have schedule changes as well, to improve on-time performance or to work around road projects.
"We're just trying to help our buses stay on time," Joseph said.
