Question: We've heard about the minister Sen. John McCain has rejected, but never about McCain's own church pastor. Is he a church member? If so, what is his affiliation?
Answer: According to news reports, McCain was raised as an Episcopalian but has attended a Baptist church for many years. McCain and his family attend North Phoenix Baptist Church. The Rev. Dan Yeary has led the Southern Baptist Convention-affiliated church for 13 years. The church has about 7,000 members. McCain is not a member.
Though McCain has made it clear that he considers religion a private matter, he's said he hasn't been baptized.
