A four-hour standoff on the east side has come to an end.
Tucson police believed that a suicidal person had barricaded himself inside of a home in the area of 35th Street and South Prudence Road, near East Golf Links Road. However, when they were able to make entry around noon, no one was inside, said Sgt. Diana Lopez, a Tucson Police Department spokeswoman.
The incident began this morning shortly after 8 when police got a call about a family disturbance, Lopez said.
Police received word that there was a suicidal person who was seen with at least one weapon, Lopez said.
They were unable to find the person, but obtained information that he may have gone to the home near 35th and Prudence, she said.
SWAT and hostage negotiators responded to the area in an effort to make contact with the person.
Five homes in the surrounding area were also evacuated.
