Tucson man gets 70 years in child molestation case

Arizona Daily Star
Tucson, Arizona | Published: 01.09.2009
A man who molested a young girl over a four year period was sentenced to 70 years in prison Friday.
George William Adams was convicted of two counts of sexual conduct with a minor and two counts of molestation of a child.
The molestation occurred in Mescal where Adams was employed by a family.
Police did not become aware of the crimes until January 2005 when it was reported that a 14-year-old girl was being molested by 56-year-old Adams — a registered sex offender in Pima County, according to a news release from the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office.
The victim was reportedly 10 years old when the molestation began, the release said.
In February 2008, a warrant was issued for Adams’ arrest and he was taken into custody a few days later in Tucson before being transported to Cochise County to stand trial, the release said.
The trial began in November and sentencing was done Friday.
He was sentenced to two life terms that are to run consecutively, meaning he is not eligible for parole for 70 years.
