A 54-year-old woman who says she was tied up in her Midtown home for two days appears to be OK except for some possible rope burns on her hands, a Tucson Police spokesman said.
The woman, who said she was able to free herself, called police shortly before 11 a.m. Sunday, said Officer Chuck Rydzak, a Tucson Police Department spokesman.
Officers safely got her out of the home, in the 3800 block of East Monte Vista Drive, west of North Alvernon Way and north of East Glenn Street. They found no one else in the residence, he said.
Police believe the incident was not a random act, Rydzak said. It’s being investigated by the department’s home invasion unit.
David Garcia, who manages an apartment complex nearby, said he hadn’t noticed anything unusual in the past two days or so.
However, the area has a lot of drug crime, he said. “All hours of the night, people are out here selling drugs.”
