Tucson, Arizona | Published: 10.10.2008
A 23-month-old boy sustained scratches and bruising Thursday evening when he fell from a second-story balcony at a Midtown apartment complex.
The boy’s mother — 21-year-old Tracy Hyatt — was cited for contributing to the delinquency and dependency of a minor, according to Linda Galindo, a Tucson Police Department spokeswoman.
The incident occurred about 5 p.m. in the 200 block of North Arcadia Avenue — near East Broadway and North Swan Road, Galindo said.
Hyatt was apparently elsewhere in the apartment and lost track of the boy, Galindo said. She began looking for her child and realized the sliding glass door open and that he had fallen.
State Child Protective Services was called but the boy and another child — a 3-year-old — were left in Hyatt’s custody, Galindo said.
