A 30-year-old man has been arrested on charges of kidnapping a woman in 2005 and then sexually abusing and robbing her, Tucson police said Thursday.
Jason Ryan Natani was arrested at his East Side home Wednesday evening without incident. He was booked in the Pima County jail on one count each of sexual abuse, kidnapping and robbery.
According to Tucson police, the 24-year-old victim was abducted as she walked home from work in the area of North Campbell Avenue and East Speedway in 2005.
The abductor took her to a secluded location where he sexually abused her and robbed her, according to Sgt. Mark Robinson, a Tucson police spokesman.
Detectives at the time were able to take DNA evidence of the attacker from the victim, police said.
Late last week, the attacker’s DNA was matched in a database — the Combined DNA Index System or CODIS — to Natani, Tucson police said.
According to the Arizona Department of Corrections, Natani served four months in prison in 2006 for aggravated DUI.
