LOS ANGELES - The Arizona Wildcats think they’re bowl-ready. The Pac-10’s preseason pollsters do not.
Conference media have picked the Wildcats to finish seventh in the conference in its annual media poll. The results were announced Thursday morning before the start of the conference’s annual media day.
USC was picked to finished first for the sixth consecutive year, garnering 38 of the 39 possible first-place votes. Arizona State, the conference’s co-champion from a year ago, was picked to finished second. Oregon, California and UCLA round out the top-five.
Oregon State, which used a late-season run a year ago to earn a bow bid, was picked to finished sixth. After Arizona, pollsters selected Washington, Stanford and Washington State.
Arizona finished 5-7 last season, missing out on a bowl bid with a Week 12 loss at Arizona State. The Wildcats have not played in a bowl game since 1998.
