Arizona Rep. Rick Renzi’s criminal trial has been postponed until late March.
U.S. District Judge David Bury in Tucson set trial for March 24, acting on a motion filed jointly by prosecution and defense lawyers.
The 50-year-old Republican faces a 35-count indictment that includes conspiracy, wire fraud, extortion, money laundering and insurance fraud. He has pleaded not guilty.
He’s accused of crafting a swap of federally owned land to benefit himself and former business partner and co-defendant James Sandlin.
Authorities also contend that he stole from clients of his family owned insurance company to help finance his first congressional campaign.
