4 Tucson lawyers finalists for Superior Court bench post

Arizona Daily Star
Tucson, Arizona | Published: 07.04.2008
The number of attorneys in the running for a vacant Pima County Superior Court judge’s position has been reduced to four.
Judge Pro Tempore Barbara Sattler’s last day was Thursday, and attorneys Teresa Godoy, Susan Kettlewell, Jeffrey Klotz and Danelle Liwski are in the final running for her spot, said David Ricker, court spokesman.
The initial pool of candidates was 33, and it was narrowed to eight with the help of a nominating committee made up of local judges and attorneys.
The final four were selected after members of the general public were asked to submit comments on the eight.
The final decision will be made by Jan Kearney, presiding judge of the Pima County Superior Court.
Kearney is scheduled to interview the final four July 10, Ricker said.
A judge pro tempore has all the judicial powers of a regularly elected judge of the court, but is appointed by and stays on the bench at the direction of the presiding judge.
