Top Hat Theatre Club previews 'Tinsel Town'

An original musical, “Tinsel Town,” opens in previews Friday night.
The piece was written by the company’s founders, James Gooden, who penned the book, and his wife, Elizabeth, who wrote the music and lyrics.
The story is about Dottie MacGillicutty, a small-town girl who heads to Hollywood for a movie role.
This is the golden days of the studio era, and Dottie finds herself playing the daughter of an older, particularly nasty, fading star.
While in Hollywood, Dottie comes across the usual array of wacky types, handsome types, scary types. And while there, she struggles to make it big without losing sight of who she is.
Lots of musical numbers, including “See You at the Movies,” “The Ay Carumba Rumba,” and a love song, “Everything to Me.”
The cast includes both Goodens, Clare Cox, Nell Summers, and Chad Collins.
A preview performance is 8 p.m. tonight; opening is 7:30 Saturday. Regular performances are 7:30 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays and 3 p.m. Sundays. Preview tickets are $12; regular performances $18, with discounts available.
