OKLAHOMA CITY — University of Arizona cornerback Antoine Cason is in Oklahoma City today to accept this year's Jim Thorpe Award as the best defensive back in college football this year.
Cason was chosen after breaking up 14 passes and intercepting five and returning two for touchdowns in the pass-happy Pac-10.
Cason is the first winner of the Thorpe Award to never play in a bowl game or have a winning season.
He's the third Thorpe Award winner to play for Arizona coach Mike Stoops.
Stoops was the Oklahoma defensive coordinator when Roy Williams won the award in 2001 and when Oklahoma's Derrick Strait won in 2003.
