A Border Patrol agent found the remains of an illegal entrant Monday night about 16 miles north of Sasabe, an official said.
The agent found the remains of a 37-year-old Mexican woman about four miles west of Arizona 286 about 7 p.m., said Supervisory Border Patrol Agent Jose Gonzalez, a spokesman for the Tucson Sector.
There were no suspicious circumstances surrounding the woman’s death, Gonzalez said.
The Pima County Sheriff’s Department was called to the scene and a deputy estimated the woman had been dead about 24 hours, Gonzalez said.
Authorities were going to work with the Mexican Consulate to notify the woman’s relatives of her death, Gonzalez said.
