About two dozen hotel guests were evacuated from their rooms Friday afternoon after high levels of natural gas were detected at the Holiday Inn Express and the neighboring Super 8 Motel.
Around 2:30 p.m., a gas leak was discovered on a line between the two hotels in the 1500 block of West Grant, said Capt. Norm Carlton, a Tucson Fire Department spokesman.
The guests from both hotels were evacuated and it was determined the leaking line belonged to Super 8, he said.
Holiday Inn Express guests would be able to return to their rooms when gas levels were determined to be safe, Carlton said.
Guests of the Super 8 Motel will not be able to return until the actual line has been repaired, he said.
