Catalina Foothills football coach resignsArizona Daily Star
Tucson, Arizona | Published: 01.11.2008
Catalina Foothills High School is searching for a new football coach for the second time in two seasons.
Jeff Fowler resigned Wednesday after one year at the helm at Foothills, athletic director Jody Brase confirmed today.
“It wasn’t the ideal situation for him,” Brase said. “He is a great guy with a big heart who has always helped the athletic program here.
“He was an assistant (football) coach here for such a long time, and it was something he really excelled at and was passionate about.”
Fowler served as an assistant for 11 of the previous 12 seasons and also was the school’s softball coach (2004-06) and baseball coach (2007).
Foothills went 4-6 under Fowler in 2007. The Falcons finished in third place in the five-team 4A Sonoran Region with a 2-2 record and missed the state playoffs for the second straight year.
Mark Brunenkant resigned as Foothills coach in December 2006 after nine seasons at the school.
Brase said a small hiring committee will meet Tuesday to begin the process of finding Fowler's replacement.
