A mother and daughter were killed and six others were injured early Saturday when the sport-utility vehicle they were riding in rolled just west of Marana.
Marana resident Deanna Leal, 28, was driving westbound on West Silverbell Road east of North Trico Road at a high rate of speed when she overcorrected and rolled her 2001 Ford Expedition at about 12:10 a.m., said Deputy Dawn Hanke, a sheriff’s spokeswoman.
Leal and her 7-year-old daughter, Jasmine, were thrown from the vehicle and were pronounced dead at the scene.
Neither victim was wearing a seat belt, Hanke said.
Hanke said Leal’s 9-year-old daughter, whose name was not provided, was also thrown from the vehicle and was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Also in the SUV were Leal’s two youngest daughters, ages 5 and 3, along with an 18-year-old woman, a 28-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman. Each was taken to area hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.
