2 teens arrested after CDO High School bomb scare

Arizona Daily Star
Tucson, Arizona | Published: 11.15.2007
Two students were arrested at Canyon de Oro High School today on charges of perpetrating a hoax in the form of a bomb scare.
That is a Class 4 felony.
James Kayser, 18, is being held at Pima County jail, and a 16-year-old student is being held in the Pima County Juvenile Detention Center, according to an Oro Valley Police Department spokeswoman. The 16-year-old's name was withheld by police because he is a juvenile.
At 8:30 a.m., an unattended package was discovered outside the school's Building E, on the school's south-central edge, said Todd Jaeger, the Amphitheater School District's associate to the superintendent and general counsel. The building contains mostly classrooms.
As law enforcement officials investigated the package this morning, students and faculty left the vicinity when the school went into lockdown at 8:50 a.m. and went to the multi-purpose room on the west side of campus, Jaeger said. Though the package was not a bomb, the school, at 25 W. Calle Concordia, remained in lockdown until 11:25 a.m. while officials continued their investigation, Jaeger said. Students in other buildings remained in class.
A letter was sent home to parents today detailing the events of the lockdown.
