Cox Communications restored internet service to its customers at 3:30 p.m.
Thursday, according to a press release.
A damaged fiber-optic cable disrupted cable and internet service to some Cox
customers in Tucson Thursday morning, an official said.
A line owned by Level Three Communications was cut in Higley, which is
southeast of Phoenix, said Michael Dunne, a spokesman for Cox
Communications.
Cox leases space on the fiber optics cable, Dunne said.
Cox technicians were able to devise a temporary solution around the damaged
line, which allowed customers to resume internet service, though at
slower-than-normal speed, according to the release.
Businesses were also affected, Dunne said.
Dunne didn't know earlier today how long the outage would last or how many
customers were affected.
