Police have identified the man who was shot and killed in his South Side
home Wednesday night as 29-year-old Juan Carlos Escoto-Ortega.
The shooting was reported about 11 p.m. Wednesday night in the 4500 block of
East 25th Street, near South Swan Road and East 22nd Street, said Sgt. Decio
Hopffer, a Tucson Police Department spokesman.
Escoto-Ortega was found dead at the scene with a gunshot wound, according to
police.
Homicide detectives are continuing to investigate and are following up on
leads, Hopffer said. No motive has been established and no suspects have
been identified, Hopffer said.
Hopffer could not say whether the person who shot Escoto-Ortega forced entry
into the home or if the home had been ransacked because the investigation is
still ongoing.
Anyone with information is asked to call 911 or 88-CRIME.
