Nearly 600 people packed into a meeting hall in the small Southern Arizona
town of Sonoita this morning to say goodbye to Brielle Boisvert - the
5-year-old child killed last week during Tucson's Rodeo Parade.
In a 90-minute "celebration" of her life, both tears and music flowed as her
family and friends - and many more who had never met her - tried to
understand this loss and find comfort in each other.
"There is no pain that is so deep on this earth that heaven can't take care
of," said Marc Hill, pastor of the Skyline Baptist Church in Benson, and a
close friend of the family.
"Dear God, we praise you for the life of this beautiful, beautiful child."
Among the mourners were a large contingent from the Tucson Rodeo Parade
Committee, as well as paramedics, the border patrol, and the military, with
representatives from Fort Huachuca Army Post and Davis-Monthan Air Force
base. Brielle - one of four children of Tom and Donnell Boisvert, of the
Rain Valley area was crowned "Little Miss" of the Sonoita Rodeo this summer
and was riding with the Sonoita Rodeo Royalty entry when horses pulling a
wagon behind her bolted and slammed into her horse, throwing her to the
pavement and under the wheels of the wagon.
She was buried at the nearby Elgin Cemetery after the memorial service.
