The man who shot two intruders this week at his North Side home was
80-year-old William Blankinship, authorities said Wednesday.
Blankinship grabbed a gun and confronted the intruders Tuesday morning when
authorities say he found them loading his belongings into a vehicle at a
home in the 300 block of East River Road, near North Stone Avenue.
When Pima County Sheriff¹s Department deputies arrived, one man was shot
dead and another was wounded.
The man who was killed was identified Wednesday as Steven Church, 34, of the
3400 block of West Courtney Crossing Lane.
The wounded man was identified as Frank Scheck, 43, of the 6000 block of
North Camino Pimeria Alta.
No new details of the events that lead to the shooting were released early
Wednesday.
