A man wanted for attempted murder in Maricopa County was caught by U.S.
Customs and Border Protection officers Sunday night while crossing into the
United States from Mexico at the San Luis port-of-entry.
Just after 11 p.m. Julian Angel Tamayo, 20, tried to enter the United States
on foot, according to a press release from U.S. Customs and Border
Protection. When questioned by authorities, Tamayo refused to identify
himself and, as he grew increasingly nervous, he asked to return to Mexico.
Customs and Border Protection officers then took Tamayo into custody. After
fingerprinting him they learned he was wanted for an attempted homicide. San
Luis Police Department officers then took him into custody.
This is the second time in three weeks Customs and Border Protection
officers caught individuals sought in connection with an attempted murder,
according to the press release.
On Nov. 27, Customs and Border Protection officers apprehended Francisco
Esquivel, 27, and Martha Davalos, 18, at the San Luis port-of-entry.
Both were wanted in connection with an attempted murder in Yuma.
