Border Patrol agents in Nogales, Arizona, arrested 109 illegal entrants and
seized a house and a vehicle Tuesday in an investigation that shut down a
Rio Rico drop house.
The case began when agents working in an area known for people smuggling
stopped a suspicious vehicle, according to a Border Patrol press release.
Upon questioning the driver, they determined he was an illegal entrant.
Agents continued to investigate continued to work in the area and that led
them to a house where they located the other illegal entrants a short time
later.
The Border Patrol expects that six of the people detained will be prosecuted
in connection with the operation of the stash house. They also seized the
house and the vehicle driven by the illegal entrant whose arrest initiated
the case.
The agents involved were members of the agency's DISRUPT team is made up of
Border Patrol Agents who work in plain-clothes. The DISRUPT team conducts
surveillance and rely on calls and information from the community to conduct
their operations, according to the press release.
