Arizona is one of 16 states in which cantaloupes tainted with salmonella have made people sick.
But no cases of the infection have been reported in the Tucson area, said Patti Woodcock, spokeswoman for the Pima County Health Department.
The Food and Drug Administration Saturday issued the alert for the melons from Agropecuaria Montelibano.
Grocers are advised to remove from their stock any cantaloupes from this company. People should check with stores to see whether recently purchased cantaloupes came from Honduras. People should throw away cantaloupes from the Honduran manufacturer believed to be linked to a salmonella outbreak.
So far, 50 people have become sickened in 16 states and nine in Canada.
