The Arizona Wildcats volleyball team will miss the postseason for a third consecutive year.
The NCAA invited six Pac-10 teams to the tournament, omitting Arizona, which finished seventh in the league. Although the Cats had more significant victories than some schools that made the 64-team field, their 3-2 loss to Washington State (10-19) on Saturday damaged their chances of qualifying, coach Dave Rubio said.
Arizona (16-14, 6-12 Pac-10) upset No. 7 Cal, No. 8 Oregon and No. 11 USC, but went 0-9 on the road in conference matches.
"It comes down to us putting ourselves in position to not be considered instead of putting ourselves in position to lock it down," Rubio said. "We only have ourselves to blame for that."
