If you're up for an informal knitting session, the Old Pueblo Knitters Guild might be for you.
The knitters meet the third Thursday of every month at St. Philip's in the Hills Episcopal Church, 4440 N. Campbell Ave.
"Everybody is welcome. You don't have to be an expert knitter," said member Connie Mallette.
The group does workshops once a year, and members are getting ready for a fashion show coming up in January.
The knitters make things for various charity groups and do knitting for various projects such as for boarding schools, hospitals and military personnel.
The group knits warm hats, gloves and sweaters for babies born prematurely and for mothers with babies living in shelters.
Members also knit for "Operation Gratitude," winter packages sent to military personnel stationed overseas.
For that project, the group members knit 6-foot-by-42-inch neck scarves out of fiber yarn, in subdued colors. After the scarves are completed they are rolled up tightly and placed in plastic tubes that are boxed and sent to California, then sent overseas.
The knitters' guild monthly meeting also includes a show-and-tell time. Dues are $20 per year.
For more information about the guild, call Mallette at 886-4772
