I saw a film many years ago — probably in the 1980s — that I would like to try to find again. Unfortunately, I can't give you much to go on.
As I recall it was about some guy who had one adventure after another — escapes, romances, etc. — somewhere in the Mideast. There were tents, dancers, escapes, etc. It went on for what seemed like a very long time, and never really got anywhere. The individual went from one thing to another. There didn't seem to be much of a story to it, just a series of improbable adventures. They all took place in exotic settings seemingly, as I said, in the Mideast somewhere.

The description you gave is vague enough to cover a number of different movies. A couple possibilities: "The Jewel of the Nile" (1985) with Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner, as well as "Ishtar" (1987) starring Warren Beatty and Dustin Hoffman.
