HoCo Festival showcases local and national actsTucson, Arizona | Published: 08.21.2008
The annual HoCo Festival at Hotel Congress is a three-day celebration of music that's become a Labor Day weekend tradition (Aug. 29-31).
The festival's lineup includes The Meat Puppets, Ned Sutton and the Rabbits, Gentlemen Afterdark, Devil Makes Three, Centro-matic, Golden Boots, Mr. Free and the Satellite Freakout!, Al Perry, The Mother Truckers and lots more.
Caliente's stage (Sunday, Aug. 31) will showcase some of Tucson's best young local bands, including RCougar, West, The Runaway Five, Feel Good Revolution, The Otterssey, Young Mothers and The Deludes.
HoCo will also feature a record fair, an actual wedding (officiated by Al Perry) — if you're there, you're a guest — an eco-fair and a Buffalo Exchange fashion show.
If you've never heard the melodic instrumentals of West, go to aznightbuzz.com/hoco for a free download of "Long Sleeve Weather" or click on the link at right to stream the song.
Led by echoey guitars, the song is a journey that evolves, deconstructs and pieces itself back together in sections. It's available at no charge today through next Thursday as an MP3.
Tickets are $5 per day or free in advance at Bookmans, Buffalo Exchange, Zia Records, Hotel Congress and aznightbuzz.com/hoco.
