Billy Ray Cyrus joins Country Thunder lineupTucson, Arizona | Published: 03.06.2008
Billy Ray Cyrus, hot on a comeback track after the release late last year of his Walt Disney Records debut, joins the lineup at the 15th annual Country Thunder USA next month.
It is Cyrus' first Country Thunder appearance since 2001, when he shared the lineup with Sawyer Brown and Neal McCoy.
Funny how today can be a mirror reflection of yesterday: Brown and McCoy — arguably two of country music's most energetic, entertaining acts — are back on the bill this year.
Also on the lineup for the festival, which runs April 17-20 in Florence, is super duo Sugarland, songwriting phenom Phil Vassar, former Arizonan and emerging superhunk Dierks Bentley, classic crooner Joe Nichols, Texas frat boy Pat Green, and the wonderful string ensemble of Ryan Shupe and the Rubberband.
Newcomers Chuck Wicks, Luke Bryan, Bucky Covington, Jason Michael Carroll, Heartland, Kellie Pickler, Bluefield and Danielle Peck will get a shot on the main stage.
The four-day festival also will feature the solo debut of longtime Country Thunder regular Heidi Newfield, former lead singer of the honky-tonk trio Trick Pony.
Tickets, including a special 2-for-1 deal, are on sale now at www.countrythunder.com.
