Incubus to play Casino del Sol's AVA SundayTucson, Arizona | Published: 07.05.2007
Incubus has built an undeniably large fan base through the years and, apparently, a good portion of it lies in Arizona.
The California band will play Casino del Sol's AVA on Sunday, then swing back to the Phoenix area in September.
Incubus had a strong cult following before launching into mainstream success with its 1999 album, "Make Yourself," and the hit song "Drive."
C'mon, you know that song, "Whatever tomorrow brings, I'll be there / With open arms and open eyes."
The band later went on to release 2001's "Morning View," 2004's "A Crow Left of the Murder" before last year's "Light Grenades."
While Incubus is aging, singer Brandon Boyd has pursued an alternate career. So far he's released two books of photographs, paintings, drawings and writings. You can check out his stuff at brandonboydbooks.com.
We're pretty sure he's also been working on music stuff, too. Hopefully.
Incubus plays Tucson for $45 if you want a seat or to relax on the lawn, and $70 if you want a VIP box. Simon Dawes opens up at 8 p.m. Go to casinodelsol. ticketforce.com for more info.

The Teeth will play Che's Lounge Saturday night
Philadelphia's The Teeth have been lumped in with recent indie rock acts like Dr. Dog, probably because both bands are on the same record label, Park The Van Records.
Another possible reason is both groups are from Philadelphia. Yet another is that they both play somewhat revivalist rock, leaning heavily on influences from classic rock radio. Where Dr. Dog pulls heavily from The Beatles, The Teeth sound like they're channeling The Kinks.
The band is touring behind its April release, "You're My Lover Now," recorded in a West Philadelphia warehouse.
The Teeth, which includes twin brothers Aaron and Peter MoDavis on guitar and bass, will play Che's Lounge, 346 N. Fourth Ave., Saturday night around 10:30. It's free.

Golden Boots in last show before hitting road
Before Tucson's Golden Boots head out on a national tour in August with Chicago's Magnolia Electric Co., the band will be playing its last currently scheduled local show at the Red Room this Saturday night.
Boots' captain, Dimitri Manos, told the Star in June about his run-ins with Magnolia.
"We met some of the Magnolia guys a few years back when they were traveling as The Impossible Shapes and later as The Coke Dares, both incredible bands," Manos wrote in an e-mail. "We hung out around our fair city with them, slid down staircases atop folding table toboggans, roof-top drinking, late night porch hangouts, and most recently we saw a car get ripped in half by a train."
Manos said no one was injured in the car-train meet-up, but you can see the fireworks of a Magnolia-Boots concert at Club Congress, 311 E. Congress St., on Sept. 11.
Saturday night, the Boots play with San Diego's The Vision of a Dying World and Red Feathers beginning at 10 p.m. for free. The Red Room is inside the Grill, at 100 E. Congress St.
