The bond rating of Tucson's largest school district was upgraded to A1 for $57 million in securities issued this week, officials said Wednesday.
Tucson Unified School District's upgrade from its A2 rating by Moody's was based on its tax base, economy, debt levels and rapid payout of principal, the district said.
The general-obligation bonds, issued July 15, will be used to complete 35 projects, including classroom construction and school renovation. In November 2004, voters approved the issuance of $235 million in bonds.
