Transportation open house on Jan. 15
People can offer their opinions on the Colossal Cave Road: Acacia Elementary School to Old Vail Middle School Improvement Project at a Jan. 15 open house.
The Pima County Department of Transportation will provide information on the project from 6 to 7:30 p.m. that evening at Acacia Elementary School, 12995 E. Colossal Cave Road.
People with disabilities who need help participating and communicating in the open house should call 740-6410 by Monday to make arrangements.
Free classic car show at Little Anthony's Diner
A free classic car show will sport '50s-style entertainment for kids and adults on Saturday at Little Anthony's Diner, 7010 E. Broadway.
Trophies, Hula-Hoops, a bubble-gum-blowing contest, the bunny hop, a jumping castle, music and, of course, cars will be among the happenings at the show, which will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. .
Admission and activities are free. Donations will be accepted for local children's charities such as the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southern Arizona and Tu Nidito, the release said.

Eastside Democrats plan Jan. 19 meeting
The Saguaro Eastside Democrats will elect board members and officers and hear about efforts to form a local chapter of the United Steel Workers Associate Members Club during a Jan. 19 meeting at New Spirit Lutheran Church, 8701 E. Old Spanish Trail.

Jazz duo to play Friday at Sahuarita coffee house
Singers-musicians Lisa Otey and Diane Van Deurzen will perform at 7 p.m. Friday at the Javarita Coffeehouse, located in The Good Shepherd United Church of Christ, 17750 S. La Cañada Dr., Sahuarita.
Last year the duo performed their blend of hot jazz, sultry blues and cabaret at the coffeehouse.Call Randy Mayer at 625-1375. A donation of $10 is requested at the door.
New Sahuarita library set to open Jan. 16
The new Sahuarita Branch Library will open at 10 a.m. Jan. 16, 725 W. Via Rancho. There will be a free public reception.
The library will be housed in a modified, 2,000-square-foot modular building previously used by the town of Sahuarita.
The new facility will operate as an "express" library where patrons can pick up reserved books. In addition the library will have 12 computers for public use.
Operating hours for the Sahuarita library will be Tuesdays through Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Fridays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
