SAHUARITA
1Larceny was reported at 11:08 a.m. Dec. 6 in the 200 block of West Calle Patio Lindo. A resident told police someone stole all the Christmas decorations from her front yard. She said the polar bear and eight large candy canes were valued at more than $50.
2Suspicious activity was reported at 9:45 p.m. Dec. 5 in the 400 block of West Calle la Bolita. A resident told police someone knocked on the door. She said she asked who it was, but got no response. She told police she looked out the peep hole, but something was covering the hole. She said she heard the person at the door crying or breathing heavily. Police searched the area but did not find anyone suspicious.
3Theft was reported at 3:44 p.m. Dec. 3 at Wal-Mart, 18680 S. Nogales Highway. An employee told police he saw a man conceal two electric toothbrushes, a replacement toothbrush head, face powder, a kitchen hook and a pair of earrings in his jacket. He tried to stop the man near the garden center but he ran away.
4Fraud was reported at 4:53 p.m. Dec. 2 at the Sahuarita Police Department, 315 W. Sahuarita Center Way. A woman came into the police station with a letter she received from Asset Acceptance LLC. She said the letter stated she owes $4,096.29 for an unpaid credit card balance. She told police she called the debt collector but was unable to get any additional information. She said she is disputing the debt and needed to file a police report.
EAST SIDE
5Embezzlement was reported at 12:52 p.m. Dec. 3 in the 11600 block of East Old Spanish Trail. A resident told deputies the following: Her granddaughter took her truck and her bank card on Dec. 1. The granddaughter said she was taking the truck to a potential buyer and needed the card to get gasoline. Her granddaughter called her at 6:30 p.m. and said she would not be home for supper. She said she checked her bank account and discovered more than $700 in fraudulent charges had been made since her granddaughter left. She said her 1976 Chevrolet truck was valued at $15,000. She suspects her granddaughter is going to South Carolina to visit her boyfriend. She said she wanted to press charges.
VAIL/CORONA DE TUCSON
6Fraud was reported at 9:25 a.m. Nov. 26 in the 0-100 block of CN Rock Street. A resident told deputies he sold his PlayStation 3 online for $600 to an individual in Nigeria. He requested the buyer make the payment via PayPal. He received an e-mail from PayPal stating his money had been received. He mailed the PlayStation 3 and then discovered the e-mail from PayPal was fraudulent. He then received a check in the mail for $2,000 for payment of the video game system. He e-mailed the would-be buyer that he no longer had the gaming system. The person e-mailed him back and requested he cash the check because it had already been posted. He was instructed to keep $100 and wire the remaining $1,900 via Western Union to the person. He discovered the check was fraudulent.
7 A student was cited on suspicion of minor in possession of alcohol at 12:11 p.m. Nov. 24 at Old Vail Middle School, 13299 E. Colossal Cave Road. The assistant principal told deputies an open bottle of beer was found in the boys' restroom. She said someone told a teacher that the boy who was cited had beer. An unopened bottle of beer was found in his backpack. He told deputies an older teen gave it to him on Nov. 21 when he was waiting in the back field for his brother. He said he put the beer in his backpack and forgot about it. He told deputies the opened beer in the boys' restroom was not his. According to the report, the boy did not smell like beer and did not appear to be drunk. He was released to his mother.
