SAHUARITA
1 Criminal damage was reported at 8:01 a.m. May 14 in the 1300 block of West Calle de Ensayador. A resident said someone sprayed an unknown substance on plants that line her sidewalk and the grass under the plants was dying. She told police her neighbors were harassing her, and she threatened to beat them up. One of her neighbors came outside while the officer was there and she yelled at him. According to the report, he went back inside without speaking to her. The police officer told the woman to stop threatening her neighbors and yelling at them or she could be arrested for disorderly conduct. The woman became upset and told police she no longer wanted their help.
2 Suspicious activity was reported at 11:26 a.m. May 13 in the 670 block of West Paseo Celestial. A resident told police she found an outside water faucet running but did not see anyone around her house. She said she thinks someone is throwing rocks at her house in the evenings; she heard two loud thumps in the past few weeks and discovered a broken roof tile.
3 A disturbance was reported at 11:53 p.m. May 11 in the 14000 block of South Majesty Palm Drive. Someone reported a loud party with underage drinking but police found several teenage boys playing a video game in the garage. The homeowner said one adult at the house was drinking and allowed police to check the house. No evidence of underage drinking was found. Police asked the residents to close the garage door and quiet down.
4 Embezzlement was reported at 11:46 a.m. May 10 in the 700 block of West Firehawk Drive. A resident told police the following: He took his 2005 Harley-Davidson motorcycle to a man in Nogales to have it detailed. Three weeks ago the man contacted him and said the person who was supposed to do the work had been murdered somewhere in Mexico. He didn't know the name or address of the person who was murdered.He wanted to make a report so he could either collect insurance money or recover the motorcycle.
EAST SIDE
5 Gunshots were reported at 1:16 a.m. May 18 in the 0-100 block of North Avenida Javelina. A resident told deputies he heard five shots that he thought were fired by someone in a vehicle traveling on East Broadway. One bullet went through a window near the ceiling, ricocheted off the cinder- block wall and fell onto a table in the family room. The bullet casing was found on the table. Deputies found a fragment in the slightly damaged wall. No one was injured. A bullet hole was found in a nearby speed limit sign. Deputies found four bullet casings in the desert near the house.
VAIL/CORONA DE TUCSON
6 A 33-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of criminal damage at 2:56 a.m. May 13 in the 13600 block of East Aviara Place. A resident told deputies he and his family were awakened by loud noises in the backyard. He said he and his son went outside and held the man at gunpoint until deputies arrived. Patio furniture was thrown around the yard. Several pieces of furniture were in the pool. A flower pot and a pool basketball hoop were shattered. A cell phone that did not belong to the residents was found at the bottom of the pool. The man was drunk and told deputies he thought he was at a different house. He also was arrested on suspicion of criminal trespassing and booked into the Pima County jail.
7 Fraud was reported at 2:17 p.m. May 11 in the 13300 block of East Kahlua Road. A woman told deputies she tried to apply for food stamps and was told her Social Security number was being used by someone for cash assistance.
8 A man was arrested on suspicion of carrying a concealed weapon after a traffic stop at 12:09 p.m. May 11 on South Wentworth Road near East Sahuarita Road. The man told deputies he forgot his driver's license but then said he thought it was in a small bag in his lap. According to the report, he seemed reluctant to move a large black bag on the front seat. A few minutes later, he said he could not find his license and thought he'd lost it. The deputy asked him if he had any weapons in the truck. He said yes and showed the deputy a gun that was under the black bag. Deputies searched the man and found a plastic bag containing methamphetamine in his pants pocket. He told deputies he borrowed the pants and the drug did not belong to him. A smoking pipe and several knives were also found in the truck. The man was arrested on suspicion of possession of a dangerous drug and possession of drug paraphernalia, and booked into the Pima County jail.
9 Fraud was reported at 1:37 p.m. May 7 in the 500 block of East Savannah Street. A resident told deputies she received a call from a man who requested her personal checking account and routing numbers. She said he told her an accountant had discovered an error in her account and 76 other accounts in her area. She told deputies he hung up when she pressed him for more information.
