• Left-hander Zach Jackson, acquired by Cleveland last month in the trade that sent CC Sabathia to Milwaukee, was recalled by the Indians on Wednesday from Buffalo.
• The Red Sox placed third baseman Mike Lowell on the 15-day disabled list Wednesday because of a strained left oblique muscle. They also claimed right-hander Marcus McBeth off waivers from Cincinnati and optioned him to Pawtucket.
• Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter didn't play Wednesday after fouling a ball off the inside of his left foot the previous night.
• Tigers reliever Joel Zumaya went back on the 15-day disabled list Wednesday with soreness in the right shoulder that was surgically repaired during the offseason.
• The Rays' Carl Crawford will undergo surgery on his right hand today and will be sidelined at least until the final series of the regular season.
• Rangers center fielder Josh Hamilton left Wednesday night's game against the Red Sox in the sixth inning to fly home to be with his wife, who is expecting their third child.
• Athletics third baseman Eric Chavez had surgery Wednesday to repair damage in his right shoulder and will be out for at least six months.
