Police arrested a man and a woman suspected of robbing a North Side Quik Mart early Wednesday while wearing clown outfits.
Megan J. Franklin, 25, and David N. Willingham, 27, were caught Wednesday around 8 p.m. in the 400 block of East Navajo Road, said Officer Lisa Peasley, a Tucson Police Department spokeswoman.
Peasley had no information on the clown suits but said police acted on a tip.
Robbers entered the convenience store wearing the costumes around 2:30 a.m., according to a Quik Mart official.
They were armed when they took an undisclosed sum of money and left the store, near North Country Club and East Fort Lowell roads, police said.
Franklin and Willingham were charged with one count of armed robbery and one count of aggravated robbery each, Peasley said.
Court records show the two were both charged in a domestic violence incident in March and failed to appear in court. Willingham also has failure-to- appear warrants for several traffic violations dating back to 1999. In 2002, he pleaded guilty to driving under the influence.
