Police are investigating the death Friday of a man who was found covered in blood on a park bench.
A city worker found the 52-year-old man unresponsive on a bench in Freedom Park — 5000 E. 29th Street, near South Swan Road — just before 6 a.m., according to Sgt. Fabian Pacheco, a Tucson Police Department spokesman.
He called police, who arrived in three minutes and declared the man dead, Pacheco said.
The victim did have at least one wound but authorities would not say where the wound was or how he died pending the results of an autopsy, Pacheco said.
People who live nearby told police that the man had a pickup truck and he often slept in it, Pacheco said. It was not clear if he was homeless but he would get out of his truck and go sit on the park bench.
Sometimes the victim was seen with another man, Pacheco said.
The victim’s name will not be released until his family has been notified, Pacheco said.
Anyone with information is asked to call 911 or 88-CRIME.
