A reward is being offered by 88-CRIME for information about attacks on a glass-walled University of Arizona building after vandals damaged its windows Saturday for the third weekend in a row.
Police believe the windows of the UA's College of Architecture and Landscape Architecture, 1160 E. Speedway, were damaged by BB guns or pellet guns, possibly fired from a passing car. The projectiles have, so far, not penetrated the double-paned glass.
In all, 32 windows have now been damaged, said UA police spokesman Sgt. Eugene Mejia. University risk managers say the damage is in excess of $108,000. "It's senseless and it's costing the university and taxpayers," said Mejia.
Mejia said the police have no leads or suspects in the case. "It's going to take somebody in the community coming forward," he said.
The Pima County Attorney's anonymous tip line is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible. Call 88-CRIME.
