FLAGSTAFF — Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Anquan Boldin has asked to be traded, saying he doesn't feel his situation can be resolved. He also declared he has no relationship with coach Ken Whisenhunt.
"I'm a football player. That's about it," Boldin said Tuesday when asked to characterize his dealings with the coach.
A team spokesman said the Cardinals have no plans to trade the sixth-year standout and still hope to sign him to a contract extension.
The two-time Pro Bowl player claims the Cardinals reneged on an offer to renegotiate his contract.
Ex-Wildcat Miller waived by Titans
NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The Titans waived former UA punter Josh Miller on Tuesday and replaced him on the roster by signing defensive back Tuff Harris.
Miller signed with the Titans on April 25 and spent all but the final two practices of training camp with the team. He was the Titans second punter on the roster; veteran punter Craig Hentrich was the other.
Extra points
● Bills starting quarterback Trent Edwards sustained a deep bruise to his right quadriceps during practice Tuesday night, and it's unclear whether he'll return to practice this week. Coach Dick Jauron said trainers began treating the thigh injury immediately to reduce swelling after Edwards walked off the field with a slight limp.
● J.T. O'Sullivan isn't getting ahead of himself, even though the sixth-year veteran is starting for the third consecutive week at quarterback for the 49ers. O'Sullivan has assumed command in a three-way competition with veteran holdovers Alex Smith and Shaun Hill. Coach Mike Nolan says the team is undecided which quarterback will start the opener.
● Receiver Chris Henry is back with the Bengals because the team's owner has a soft spot for troubled players. Henry signed a two-year deal Tuesday with the team that let him go after he was arrested for the fifth time, a decision that seemed to mark a change in philosophy for owner Mike Brown. Coach Marvin Lewis, who had no interest in bringing back the troubled receiver, said Brown wanted to give Henry another chance.
● Steelers safety Troy Polamalu participated in a full practice for the first time this preseason on Tuesday. Polamalu, who has been selected to the past four Pro Bowls, was placed on the physically unable to perform list on the first day of training camp. He had injured his hamstring before arriving and had only worked out lightly
● Terrell Owens scoffs at any notion that there is reason to worry about the Cowboys after they lost their first two preseason games. "We'll be fine once the season starts," Owens said Tuesday. "I promise you."
● Joe Horn, released by the Falcons on Tuesday after the team could not trade the veteran receiver, said he is relieved he can pursue a job with another team. The Falcons will receive no return on the guaranteed $2.5 million salary in 2008 for the 36-year-old Horn.
● The Patriots released 13-year veteran tight end Marcus Pollard on Tuesday. Pollard signed with the Patriots on April 23 after being released by Seattle, where he spent one season. He played his first 10 seasons with Indianapolis and two with Detroit.
