We're getting 2009 off to a funny start this weekend with the first of the year's big comedy shows — a double-whammy and tough call on Congress Street Friday:

● Gabriel Iglesias is at the Fox Tucson Theatre; Craig Ferguson plays the Rialto Theatre. Both shows start at 8. (See related story on Page 4.)

The fun continues next Thursday when Jeff Dunham returns with his cast of wacky characters for a sure-to-be-sold-out show at the Tucson Arena.(See related story on Page 3.)

Other big names coming through the Old Pueblo in coming months:

● March 7 — Blue Collar Comedy frontman Bill Engvall returns to Desert Diamond Casino.

● March 22 — Dennis Miller headlines the annual Hillel Foundation benefit at Centennial Hall.

● April 17 — Blue Collar comedian Ron White plays Desert Diamond Casino.

If you're up to driving to Phoenix, Robin Williams plays Dodge Theatre Feb. 13 and 14.
