Two trapeze artists engage in a seamless ballet high above the arena floor.
Four performers on bungee cords sail through the air in birdlike splendor.
A bicyclist uses his two-wheel ride in ways you could never imagine.
Acrobats soar through the air, leaping from pole to pole in a breathtaking display of agility and strength.
Those are fewer than half the acts audiences will see when Cirque du Soleil's "Saltimbanco" plays the Tucson Arena next week. The touring spectacular opens Wednesday and runs through Sunday.
"Saltimbanco" is one of the troupe's signature shows, a baroque creation of a bizarre urban environment.
A description from the production's Web site: "The show's eclectic cast of characters draws spectators into a fanciful, dreamlike world, an imaginary city where diversity is a cause for hope."
Performances are at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday through next Saturday; 3:30 p.m. next Friday and Saturday; and 1 and 5 p.m. next Sunday, Nov. 30.
Tickets are $40-$95 adults; $32-$76 for ages 12 and under. Go to ticketmaster.com or call 321-1000.
