Brooklyn's Parts & Labor, due at Solar Culture on Wednesday, is touring to promote "Receivers," its excellent, melodic album of eight songs that jump from gorgeous atmospherics to upbeat pop to stomping rock.
The group's fourth album, "Receivers" is full of screaming metallic guitar, distant vocals, spacey keyboards and spastic, driving drums.
Parts & Labor is also asking fans to submit sound samples, which they incorporate into live shows. You can call and leave a message of anything you want at l-888-317-5596 and see if the band uses it on Wednesday.
The lineup for the 9 p.m. show includes We Bring the Bees. Admission $7.

Meat Loaf not on menu tonight at the State Fair
No one will be seeing paradise by the dashboard light tonight. Iconic rocker and "Rocky Horror Picture Show" star Meat Loaf has begged off his concert at the Arizona State Fair in Phoenix.
A press release from the fair listed illness; no further details were given.
Last November, the 61-year-old Meat Loaf — born Marvin Lee Aday — bowed out of his European tour after laryngitis developed into a serious vocal chord affliction, according to press reports.
Refunds are available at the point of purchase. The fair continues through Sunday.

After you vote Tuesday, check out rapper Sole
Motormouthed indie rapper and Northern Arizona resident Sole will come to Solar Culture Tuesday with The Skyrider Band.
Sole's raps come fast and furious and, given that he's be performing on Election Day, expect some fierce political discourse as well.
Tickets are $8, and the show starts at 9 p.m.

Kottonmouth Kings at Rialto on Saturday
Southern California's Kottonmouth Kings are on tour behind their 10th record, "The Green Album."
If you own one of these 10 records, you'll probably be at the Rialto Theatre on Saturday night. On its Web site, the indie rap group describes its fan base as "people who love hip-hop to punk rock to stoners to hippies to young kids to old kids to girls."
That about covers it.
Opening is Hed PE, Subnoize Souljaz and Short Dawg. Showtime is 7:30 p.m., and tickets are $22 in advance and $25 day of show.
