Writer/director William Richert and actress Meredith Salenger are hitting the Loft Cinema at 7 p.m. Friday for a screening of their 1998 film "A Night in the Life of Jimmy Reardon," which Richert has remastered and edited as a director's cut under the title "Aren't You Even Going to Kiss Me Goodbye?"
The drama stars River Phoenix, below, a high school grad looking to find himself as he decides his future. Matthew Perry and Ione Skye appear in supporting roles.
Phoenix, who died of a drug-induced heart failure at age 23 in 1993, wrote and performed a song that plays in the recut film's end credits.
The original film, which was recut by the studio without Richert's permission, sputtered to a $6.3 million domestic box office gross and was viewed by some as a forgotten 1980s classic.
Admission to Friday's screening, which is the U.S. theatrical premiere, is $8.50. For more info, go to loftcinema.com.
