Move over, Laura Ingraham; hello, Dennis Miller.
The comedian has bumped the political commentator on KVOI 690-AM's prized 6 a.m. drive-time slot.
"The Dennis Miller Show" launched on 80 stations, including Tucson's KVOI, on Monday. It airs from 6 to 9 a.m. weekdays and replaces Ingraham, whose show aired four years on KVOI.
"We were really fortunate that he was launching his show when we were losing one of our shows to a competitor," KVOI general manager Doug Martin said.
Martin said early reaction from listeners was overall positive, although some who called into the station were miffed to find Ingraham absent on Monday. No details were available about where Ingraham's show will land; there was no Tucson information listed on her Web site.
Miller, a popular stand-up who first made a name for himself on "Saturday Night Live," is fashioning his radio show much like that TV show. It will feature celebrity guests, politicians and listener call-ins commenting on politics, culture and society.
In other radio news: Kudos to KIIM (99.5-FM). The station has been nominated for an Academy of Country Music Award for best medium-market radio station. It's up against stations in California, Colorado, Nebraska and Tennessee.
The ACMs will be doled out May 15 from Las Vegas.
