The money will be used for better testing methods to accelerate approval of new therapies for major diseases, including lung cancer, stroke, Alzheimer's and Parkinson's.
A thorn to people who are writing us letters demanding that Congress impeach President Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney.
Really, what's the point? It's not going to happen.
We've been receiving these kind of letters for the last few years. The letters stopped coming during the run-up to the presidential election, but resumed following last week's vote even though there seems to be little enthusiasm for impeachment in Congress.
U.S. Rep. Dennis Kucinich, D-Ohio, introduced 35 articles of impeachment against President Bush in June. A few liberal Democrats stand with him.
However, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., and other top House Democratic leaders have said there will be no consideration of impeachment proceedings against Bush, calling the idea "off the table."
At this point, impeachment proceedings would probably take longer than the amount of time Bush has left in office. It would be an unnecessary expense for taxpayers and would keep Congress from possibly working on more important matters.
Bush and Cheney will be out of office in about two months. Enough with the impeachment talk.
