Plans are under way for a 40-bed rehabilitation hospital in east Mesa, the East Valley Tribune reported.
Birmingham, Ala.-based HealthSouth Corp., which specializes in therapy for patients recovering from stroke, brain and spinal cord injuries, as well as cardiac and pulmonary conditions, will open its inpatient hospital at 5652 E. Baseline Road, west of Recker Road and next to A.T. Still University of Health Sciences. The facility will be fully operational by late summer.
"I believe we'll be breaking ground shortly. Within the next month, I would say," said Julie Barth, company spokeswoman. Barth said she was unsure what the facility will cost to build.
The 47,500-square-foot HealthSouth East Valley Rehabilitation Hospital will provide inpatient and outpatient programs, rehabilitative care, a therapy gym and all private rooms.
