Grubb & Ellis Co., a national commercial real estate firm, opened an office in Tucson Monday.

Five local real estate brokers — three who joined Grubb & Ellis from CB Richard Ellis and two who came from Bourn Partners LLC — will staff the office at 3333 E. Speedway.

"These are professionals who have excelled in that market for some time, and it's a market that we've not been in," said Damon Elder, a Grubb & Ellis spokesman.

The agents will provide commercial real estate brokerage for office, industrial and retail buildings, said the office's senior vice president, Bob Davis.

A native Tucsonan, Davis worked at CB Richard Ellis for more than 20 years said he decided to work at Grubb & Ellis because it was a chance to work for a company that's a "more nimble and a little more responsive to its clients' needs over a large spectrum of the commercial real estate landscape."

The company, which is based in Santa Ana, Calif., southeast of Los Angeles, has more than 130 owned and affiliated offices worldwide.
